This old boy lived down the road from me Used to drive a beat up Dodge He showed up drunk as hell one night Parked in my garage I had to ask him How'd you get so lost Man how do you get so low He said I've been running around in circles for so long I didn't know where else to go See his wife she left him and took the kids And he never was the same I guess they were all that he'd been living for And he shouldered all the blame He always wondered what made her give up And why was he the last to know She'd been running around in circles for so long She didn't know where else to go Guess we all lose our way sometimes Get stuck out on that road When there's no where left to turn we just stop The ones we love pay the toll This old boy lived down the road from me Today we laid him in the ground Drove that old dodge right off the river bridge Without even slowing down Read the letter he left for his old man Said God I loved her so He said I've been running around in circles for so long I didn't know where else to go
