This song is actually a Ralph Stanley tune, but Ralph's lead guitar player, James Shelton, is a famous crosspicker. "what's that?" you ask? Well, crosspicking is a very unique pickin' pattern where you use a flat pick and strum with two strokes down, then one stroke up (the notes written closely together below are crosspickin' notes). You can use this with any three strings of a chord that are close together. George Shuffler (another bluegrass guitar picker) made this style famous when he played with Ralph Stanley. So, I challenge all of you country guitar pickers out there to try this..it's acutally pretty difficult, when you first start...(by the way, this song isn't very fast) e------------------0--0----0--0--0----------------------0- B-----------------1--1----1--1--1-1---------------------1- G---------0-0h2--0--0--0h2--2--0----0h2-0---------------0- D-----0h2---------------------------------0h2-0---2-0---2- A-3-3--------------------------------------------3-2-3---- E--------------------------------------------------------- e------1-1---------------------- B------1-1-------1--1----1--1--- G-0--0h2-2-0----0--0----0--0---- D--3-------3-0h2--2--0h2--2----- A----------------------------3-- E------------------------------- comments and critizisms(I don't know how to spell it) are welcome. Expect more crosspickin' in the future, ya'll :) Cody Hamilton
