Trying To Answer Them

So your falling out of a taxi Your minds a carousel, without no breaks to slow you down And you've stranded me at some party I'm hiding in a wine cupboard, trying hard not to make a sound Cause if the cops find me here they'll send me home So I got my ear up against the door like a telephone Listening to the Sargent talking to the kid out cold on the stairs He says "why would you do it to yourself, yea why would you dare to It's cause once you got the world you've got to give it back And what could be harder than that Well they say being our age is easy Well I say they talk to much and you shouldn't judge what they don't know And whilst hanging on to a third story window Well I was trying to answer them whilst hearing words like "don't let go" And looking to the floor I see a couple trying to bring me to safety And of course I had to comply after all I've been selfish lately It's spinning like a record in my mind, isn't life so easy I've been thinking about that sentence and how it never seems to suit me It's cause once you got the world you've got to give it back And what could be harder than that So lets all grow up and be sensible We'll have life planners, and go for meals at midday And we could have dealt are current lives Instead of saying what "what a night" I would say I'm glad I can now behave And you could show pictures of your eleven month old baby She's hanging out at home playing games with your little lady She goes into to her room with a bottle for her every night And she sits over the crib stringing words to some lullaby Like once I had the world but had to give it back But I don't think that I'll be regretting that Yeah once you've got the world you got to give it back And what could be harder than that
